Hello and welcome back. It's so good to have you here again today. This episode is being recorded super early in the morning.

Again, I'm feeling really inspired this morning. And I've just been, you know, talking to quite a lot of business owners because we're heading towards the end of 2022. And we are heading into a new year, which means that people are getting ready to set their goals for the next year.

And the other thing that people are starting to look at is have they actually hit their goals or are they on track to hit their goals in 2022? And a lot of business owners hide their head in the sand when it comes to the numbers in their business and the reality of have they actually hit the goals they set out to hit at the beginning of the year. Now, what I see when it comes to goal setting is there's kind of two different parties here. So I see jewelry business owners who will set goals at the beginning of the year and they have really good intentions and they forget about it.

They will set their goals and they will kind of forget about it until around about now. And now they'll be like maybe looking for where they even rate it down, looking for the goal spreadsheet that they created or whatever it was. And maybe now they're recognizing that, hey, I'm not on track to hit the goals because I kind of got caught up in the hustle of building a business and just driving sales.

I completely forgot exactly what numbers I was planning on hitting each month. And now we're at the almost end of the year. And I'm not on track to hit my goal.

The other type of business owner I see, which is like a shocking number of business owners actually are business owners who don't set goals. Now, I have to say I'm always really surprised by this, but it's actually something so many business owners that I speak to have not set. They have not got clear goals.

They can pull a random number out their head that they're like, oh yeah, I might, I kind of want to hit like this number this year. But that's not a strategic goal. A random number in your head is not a strategic goal.

A strategic goal is something that is actually like measurable. We can actually see how you would even hit that number. And what I think the reason a lot of business owners do this is, is it protects them from failure.

If you haven't formally set a strategic plan for the year, if you haven't formally like decided what number you're going to aim for and hit it and you haven't got a strategy behind that, well, if you don't hit it, it's, you don't feel as guilty. You don't feel bad. Not that you should feel bad or guilty if you're not hitting your goals.

But it does protect them from, you know, facing the reality of their business. So to me, anyone who's not actually taking the time to set strategic goals in their business and is really intentional with what they're doing in their business is scared. And there's no other way to put that.

They're scared of the reality of their business. They're scared that they may not hit those numbers. They're scared that they don't really have a plan moving forward.

And so I just want to remind you how important it is to be so intentional with everything that you're doing in your business. You really want to be clear on where you're going. You want to know what numbers you're wanting to hit.

You're wanting to know how many pieces of jewelry you need to be selling to hit those goals. You want to be very clear in your business because clarity and focus is key. And, you know, get really clear on what you're wanting from life.

What are your values in life? Where do you want to be spending most of your time? Because if the answer is that you're wanting to build a business that supports a life that you want to live, well, just look at where you're spending your time right now. Is the majority of your time being spent on your business or are you spending a good amount of time living your life? So being able to set these strategic goals and be ready clear on where you're wanting to go is going to help you focus your time, energy and money in your business. It's going to give you more time to spend with friends and family and it's going to make sure that every action you are taking in your business is strategic, is intentional, is driving you towards your goals.

And something I was talking to someone about the other day, this was a business owner who was feeling a little bit overwhelmed at how do I make the right decision? How do I become successful? How do I move forward in my jewelry business? And I was sharing how, you know, success is much more simple than we think it is. We often overcomplicate success and what it means to be successful and how to be successful in your business. And what I do with my clients is I say to them, like, is this decision moving you towards your goals or away from it? If you can just ask yourself that question every time you're at a crossroads or every time you're having to make a decision and you're not sure if that is going to get you towards your goals or if it's the right decision, just simplify it.

Ask yourself, is this decision moving me towards my goals or away from them? You know, we do not need to make this hard and complicated. If it comes to events or opportunities coming your way, you know, you have to look at them and say, is this just going to be keeping me busy? Which a lot of tasks in a jewelry business keep people very busy and very unproductive. So be very wary of that.

There's a lot of things you can be doing. There's a lot of things you can be doing that will keep you busy, make you feel like you're being productive, but aren't actually productive. So really ask yourself and give yourself time to pause and think about things before you make a decision and ask yourself if this is actually going to be moving you towards your goals or away from them.

Are the decisions that you're making in your business every day expansive? Do they feel like they're expansive or do you feel like they're constrictive and they're limiting the direction you can go in your business? Same goes for the decisions you're making in your life every day. Do those feel expansive? Did those feel like they are opening you up to growth or do they feel constrictive and limiting? Because you know we do want to look at the decisions you're also making in your life because it does move over onto your business as well. So what I like to think about when I'm making decisions in my business or in my life is you know number one is this decision going to move me closer towards my goals and I'm very very clear on my goals for my life and for my business.

They're they're very I am very intentional. I also do have flexibility but I know the direction I'm going in and so you know I will ask myself this question and I will say no to opportunities that are great opportunities but aren't actually going to take me to where I'm wanting to go. I will say yes to things that I know are a full-bodied yes that yes these are moving me towards my goals.

The next question I ask myself is is this going to help me grow in the direction I'm wanting to grow? You know there's so many different things you can be doing. We have just an abundance of choice in our lives and in our businesses nowadays and so thinking about is this going to help you grow as an individual which is so important as a business owner because your business will grow as you grow. You really you have to grow so you have to do so much personal development and growth as a business owner because we rarely hold ourselves back with a lot of limiting beliefs and the stories we tell ourselves and so prioritizing making decisions that are going to help you grow as an individual and a business owner is so important.

Then ask yourself is this going to move me closer to my goals? Is this going to up level me? Is this going to lead to my highest self? Those are all the questions that you want to ask yourself and just really don't overthink it. Something else that you want to make sure that you do is be very be very clear on where you want to be one year from today. It's easy to have like a five-year vague plan in your life and you know every year you just keep that like five year but you're kind of now on four years because you've moved one year in and to me personally there is nothing worse than being in the exact same place one year from today.

I am always looking to grow. I'm always looking to expand just personally and as a business and I never want to be in that position where I'm literally in the same position a year from from today because I am really focused on growth and expansion. So look at the date when you're listening to this and go and set some goals for the next year.

Write down the date that you're listening. Write down the date from one year from today and be very intentional with where you want to be in your life and what you want to be hitting in your business. Don't just coast and allow yourself to coast.

You know coasting is something that actually needs to burn out. So some business owners like to say to me well you know I want to grow my business but right now I'm just kind of coasting because I just don't have the energy and I know I'm going to do it at some point and that's okay but I want you to be really aware that people who coast and I can say this because I see this. I see this in the business owners.

I'm talking to the people who are coasting and just they're doing okay but they're coasting. They're not being super intentional with their time and energy and money in their business. They are not driving the sales.

They could be driving in their business. They are working significantly longer hours than they need to be working in their business. They have very low energy.

They are losing their creative spark and this is actually a recipe for slow burnout. So slow burnout to me is even more dangerous than like normal burnout because it's so slow and subtle that people don't recognize it's coming up on them. You know they just don't see the signs.

So you really want to make sure that you aren't coasting. You can have chapters in business where you maybe do a little bit less, put less time, energy and money into your business. If you're going through a different stage, if you just had a baby or whatever obviously there's different chapters but that's very different.

You know I have clients who have children or who have just had babies and let me tell you they are very intentional with that time. It may be a slightly slower chapter in their business but they have that limited time and energy to work on their business so they are so much more intentional than business owners who aren't in that position and because they are so intentional during their limited one to two hours a day that they're working in their business they're actually still able to drive multiple six figures in revenue each year. So that is the power of intention and the power of making decisions that are really going to support your goals in both your personal life and in your business.

So if you're feeling a little bit overwhelmed when it comes to setting goals in your business, if you're feeling a little bit overwhelmed when it comes to actually hitting those goals because setting them and hitting them is two very very different things then I would love to invite you to join me in the jewelry business academy. It is the most expansive container for jewelry business owners ready to scale their business to six figures and beyond without burning out and I am really proud of this training because I have very carefully designed it to really support the implementation of what you're learning and implementation is everything. It's one of the most underrated things but implementing something successfully is key to actually seeing results and you know there's an abundance of information online and on social media on tips and tricks and stuff to help your business and there's books out there you can read and I see people consuming all the information they can and getting all this information and I see them unable to actually implement it into their business and execute it efficiently and effectively.

So that's one of the main focuses of my program is to be very efficient and actually really support you on your journey of implementing these strategies and systems into your jewelry business and actually building that solid foundation and driving sales. So if you would love to learn more head to my website it is jewelrybusinessacademy.ca and you can go ahead and book a connection call with me to see if you and your business are a good fit for the program and we can get you set up for success in the new year.
