Hello and welcome back. It's good to have you here. It is such a gloomy, gloomy day outside today.
I'm sitting in my little studio recording this for you and I am looking outside and honestly it's so misty and so dreary and it's one of those days where it's easy to be like, uh, yeah, I don't, I don't want to do any work. I don't want to show up in my business. Um, and it's actually a really good reminder that you don't always have to be feeling great to show up in your business.
And if you know me, if you've been following me for a while or you listen to the podcast, you know that I'm very intuitive when it comes to business. I'm very much a supporter of, um, listening to how you feel and not forcing yourself to show up when it's not something that's supportive to you. But there is a difference in recognizing sometimes like, Hey, I don't feel like showing up now, but what is going to support my highest self? What is going to support me feeling better and wanting to show up for more in my business? Well, the reality is that just taking action, just taking a few steps every day towards that is really going to help you.
So, you know, like yesterday, I think I had all these great intentions for my day and I was like, I'm going to wake up at this time. I'm going to do all this work and I didn't sleep well and I ended up sleeping in two hours past when I had planned to wake up and I woke up and I was like, Oh, this day feels like a write off because I'm two hours behind what my plans are. I may as well just like forget about today and start again tomorrow.
And I know I'm not alone and feeling that way. You know, sometimes you just feel like, Oh, this day is a write off because I've woken up a few hours later. I haven't got the first few things I planned on getting done done.
And then you kind of feel like, Okay, today's a write off. I'm just going to like feel sorry for myself and I'll start again tomorrow. And what I ended up doing was like, No, well, two or three hours is really not a big deal.
Even six hours, you can still start your day later, you can still get all those things done. It's just your mindset that you have to take a look at and really focus on when when you're going through a day like that. And so I got up, I did all my work and I really enjoyed it.
And the funny thing is just taking those steps, just getting yourself ready for your day, just dressing in a way that makes you feel excited to show up has a huge impact. And then you start building momentum. And I'm actually going to do a whole podcast on on that because the little steps that you take every day, that momentum builds over time.
And that's how you start seeing real results in your business. But today, I wanted to talk about something that a lot of business owners know is important, but they don't know why. And so they don't really prioritize doing it.
And that is email marketing. So email, your email list is one of the most important assets in your jewelry business. And a lot of people struggle to understand why this is.
And the reality is that there's so many benefits to email. But your email list is one of the only assets that you really own in your jewelry business. You do not own your Instagram followers.
You do not own your TikTok followers. You do not own any, like any of the social media platforms, those can be taken away from you at any point, your accounts can get hacked, you know, there's algorithm issues and all of that. But your email list, those people on your list are yours.
That's an asset of your business. And so that is the first thing to keep in mind that email, like that list is yours, it's your customers, it's people who have opted in to hear from you. And so they want to hear from you as well.
The second reason that email is one of the most important assets in your jewelry business is that the return on investment on an email marketing campaign can be as high as 4,400%, which is crazy. So that is $44 for every $1 spent in a marketing campaign via email. And this is really big because the reality is like every platform that you are marketing on, even if you're not paying for ads, even just social media on Instagram or TikTok, the time and energy that you are putting into creating the content to drive sales there versus email is very different.
Email is much easier to put together. It's much cheaper. It's much cheaper.
It's much less time consuming. And it has a higher return on investment. And the third reason why email is so great is that you're not competing with any algorithm.
And that is huge. So keep that in mind if you're hesitant to send emails because you're like, oh, it just feels boring. It just doesn't feel like something I feel like doing in my business right now.
If you're sending emails and email marketing campaigns, you are not competing with the Instagram algorithm, with the TikTok algorithm, which means that everyone who has opted in to receive your email campaigns is going to receive them when you send them at the top of their inbox. They are going to show up right alongside many, much, much, much bigger competitors. And there's no algorithm that's going to top theirs above yours.
It's all just about timing and when you're sending it. And if your subject lines are enough to make them want to actually open, but that's a whole other issue. But that is something that's really important to remember is that, okay, you're spending all this time and energy into creating these emails.
And the really great thing is that it is going to show up in everybody's inbox. It's not like Instagram where it's like, hey, all these people decided they wanted to follow you and they wanted to be part of your community, but we're only going to show this percentage of your followers, your content, even though they said they wanted to see it. With email, it's different.
Everyone who signs up gets to see it in their inbox. Now, the the reason that people just don't recognize how valuable this is is probably because they haven't actually taken the time to start sending emails and email marketing campaigns and actually seeing the results for themselves. And so if you are listening to this and you have been hesitant to send emails, generally, people are hesitant for two reasons.
One, they haven't really built an email list. And two, they are worried that their emails are going to be annoying. And then also actually three is that they haven't seen sales if they are sending their emails.
And this is really important to remember. And I was actually chatting to someone about this the other day. And we're chatting about, you know, how important not only sending emails is, but looking at the analytics, looking at what's working and what's not working and refining it and making sure that your emails are structured in a way that is going to support your customers in reading them, understanding really clearly what it is that you are selling, selling the feeling of your brand and not being salesy in those emails, helping people connect to you and into your brand in those emails, so that it feels good for your customers to receive your emails.
We don't want we don't want them to be bombarded with sales emails. And that is really, really important to remember. But if you take anything from this episode, I really want to just emphasize how valuable and how important it is to prioritize building your email list from day one in your business.
And, you know, even people who are listening to this who are thinking of starting a jewelry business or are working towards launching in the next few months, I want to encourage you to get your email list started now. The power that you're going to have if you're able to launch your business with an email list already there with customers already nurtured, already excited to buy into your brand to buy your pieces is going to change the trajectory of your business. It's going to have such a significant impact on your sales when you launch.
And if you're ready, a business that is well established and you're in your first few years, really prioritizing that email list is so crucial. If you lost your social media platforms, would you still be able to be driving consistent sales each month without that email list? Probably not. So take the time this year to make sure that you have a strategy in place to number one, build that email list.
And number two, actually set aside time to send out emails that are going to drive sales. And please, if you ever think like, oh, I don't want to do that emails are annoying for people to receive. Yeah, emails are annoying if they're coming from accountants, or it's about boring marketing things.
It is very different when you're sending emails that make people feel seen, make people feel connected, make people just feel inspired and feel excited about life. And that is what your emails as a jewelry business owner have the potential to do. And this is what I teach my clients in the jewelry business academy, how to send emails that feel good and drive sales, how to send emails that your customers feel excited to open, how to send emails that really help them connect to you as an individual and to your brand.
And this nurturing in the emails in your email marketing is going to impact sales, it's going to impact your business, it's going to impact you, it's going to help you feel more connected to your customers. And it is so much less time and energy required than social media marketing, for example. And the return, as I said, is so much higher.
So definitely prioritize it this year. And if you would like support with your email marketing, if you are ready for a season of growth in your business, then head to my website, jewelrybusinessacademy.ca to learn more about the jewelry business academy.
